Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
